Nancy Smrekar is a second generation emerging artist who picked up the brush later in life in 2012. Her aunt Virginia MacRae was an award winning abstract artist who studied with William Pauchner, Philip Sawyer, William Locke and others. While Nancy maintains a large family collection of her aunt’s work it is traditional impressionism with touches of realism that she chose as her predominate style. While she may occasionally pay homage to her aunt through abstract works or impressionism incorporating abstract backgrounds, it is the landscapes of California, Pennsylvania, New England and Florida that are the foundation of her work.
