Artists' Faire Fine Art Gallery & Gifts
My name is Marisa Myers and I am a resident of Tarpon Springs, Florida.
I have been melting and sculpting glass for 10 years. I love the feel of the glass in the flame and how each color has a different fluidity to it.
Lampworking is a passion that is truly satisfying because I can be on the torch and make one bead and feel I have accomplished a tiny work of art! Knowing that each piece of jewelry I make has never been created before is immensely gratifying!
I make a wide range of pieces in glass: vessels that can be worn, horse heads and, of course, beads in all shapes and sizes. My vessels are kiln-annealed for strength and durability. I typically use Argentium silver (tarnishes less than sterling silver) for the findings on all pieces of work.
I use a variety of other materials such as leather, silk cord and natural stones. I also work with the three types of metal clay: silver, bronze and copper. Metal clays are true fine silver, bronze and copper, which come in clay form. It is worked with just as earthenware clay is - shaped, dried, then fired in the kiln. After firing, it can be left as-is or polished to a high shine. It can also be oxidized or have colored epoxy resins added to it.
I make earrings, pendants, bracelets and rings out of metal clay and will sometimes incorporate my glass work into those pieces.
I hope you enjoy wearing your art jewelry just as much as I
enjoy making it!
