George Brown
GEORGE BROWN is a native of western Pennsylvania, but now makes his home in Tampa Bay. He is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University of Pittsburgh, and has spent his professional career as an economist and businessman. He has authored a book and published frequently in a variety of periodicals.
George’s interest in photography was inspired by the work of John Gould, a 19th Century ornithologist and bird artist. The technology of the time required that Gould and his contemporaries hand color their lithographs and, despite that challenge, his work brought brilliant colors and life-like settings to his images. That standard is one to which George aspires in his photography.
While Florida provides an endless opportunity for bird and wildlife photography, George has travelled in recent years to Cape Cod, Sedona, Hilton Head Island, and Carlsbad to observe and take photographs there. In the course of his travels, he has had the opportunity to work with a number of leading wildlife photographers and gain from their expertise.
George’s work is typically presented on canvas and offered as part of signed, limited edition prints. He is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association.
